From 1st April 2010, home and business owners that fit technology such as photovoltaic (PV) to their homes or buildings will be paid for the low carbon electricity it generates whether they use it themselves or not.

Photovoltaic (PV) - panels are fitted to roofs or other sunny spots to generate power so for example, by fitting a four kilowatt system you could get 44.3p for every kilowatt hour you export to the National Grid and 41.3p p/kWh for the electricity that you use.

Payments are income tax free and retail price index linked - which means they rise with inflation. They’re also guaranteed for 25 years (PV).
